Lexmark was filled with despair and tears,
money for everyone seemed to be their greatest fear.
The women and children working for little pay,
the town was warm and happy every single day.
Churches, stores and local ponds sat nearby,
this town has transformed as time flies.
The depression has turned this town into dust,
filled with robbers, con-men and lust.
The local drugstore was the best place to be,
but now its run out, broken and black as tea.
This town has changed, shut down, gone,
the churches, stores and local ponds.
It was inviting and good farm land,
the town is gone and it wasn’t planned.
Abandoned memories, good and bad,
this town is now dark, lonely, and sad.
Happy and filled with family and work
but now not even the old ally cats lurk.
Goodbye town that was so loved,
this place has been beaten, slapped and shoved.
The lack of money, jobs and many lies,
has let this joyous wonderland die.
